Imogen Stead PhD in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience conferred, August 2024
Dr. Imogen Stead completed her PhD in 2024, and is currently undertaking a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Mattingley lab.
Thesis: Characterising Cognitive and Brain Changes Throughout Adolescence
This research investigated the development of cognition and brain function across adolescence, using a combination of behavioural measures, computational modelling, and structural imaging to understand the mechanisms underlying these changes.
Caleb Stone PhD conferred, December 2024
Dr. Caleb Stone completed his PhD in December 2024, and is currently undertaking a Postdoctoral Fellow position at UNSW with Kelly Garner, Mike Le Pelley, and Ben Newell. Caleb is working on the Australia–US Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (AUSMURI) program to investigate learning and attentional control.
Thesis: Neurocognitive investigations of uncertainty in perceptual decision-making.
Farewell to Dr Dragan Rangelov
We had a farewell celebration for Dragan at the Saint Lucy Caffe e Cucina and wished him all the best for his move to Melbourne. While still an Honorary Fellow at QBI, Dragan accepted a Senior Lecturer position at Swinburne University of Technology.
Professor Jason Mattingley takes over as President of ANS for 2025/26
Jason takes over from Janet Keast as President of ANS for 2025/26. The Annual Scientific Meeting was held in Perth in December 2024. The scientific program for the Perth meeting was packed with high quality neuroscience research, complemented by a superb line-up of plenary speakers, including Tracy Bale (University of Colorado), Gavan McNally (UNSW), Andrew Morokoff (University of Melbourne), Jenny Rodger (UWA), and Susannah Tye (UQ). I would like to extend my congratulations in particular to Natalie Matosin, winner of the AW Campbell Award, Melanie Bahlo, winner of the Nina Kondelos Award, and to the recipients of the student and ECR awards.
